Emmett Cantkier
Emmett is a 20-year-old aspiring researcher studying at Georgia State University for his Bachelor’s in Anthropology. Born and raised in Atlanta, he excelled in school, recieving the Zell Miller scholarship for his achievements in high school. He attends the most diverse and innovative university in Georgia, which happens to be only a few miles from home. Throughout the start of his degree, he got a better understanding of the job of a professor and decided that was what he wanted to do as a career.

Notable Achievements & Experience
- 2019 CIEE Summer Study Abroad program participant.
- I spent three weeks in St. Petersburg, Russia. The program focused on the arts of the city. It was the first year this specific program was offered, but unfortunately it was also the last as CIEE has now closed their offices in Russia.
- 2020-22 International Baccalaureate student at Maynard Jackson High School
- 2021 Georgia Governor’s Honors Program semifinalist
- Honors College Student at Georgia State
- 2023 student at the CASA at GSU, for the Humanities Inclusivity Program Summer Immersion
- For this, I worked with Dr. Jeffery Glover in the MARTA Phoenix Lab, a local archeology project for anthropology students to gain lab experience.
- 2023-2025 Research assistant in the Humanities Inclusivity Program
- I again worked with Dr. Glover on the Phoenix Project.

Extracurriculars
- Promotions Director at GSU’s famous student-run radio station, Album 88.
- I oversee the social media pages and concert ticket giveaways among other managerial responsibilities.
